Police In Winchelsea Have Been Kept Busy This Week

A 40-year-old man from Colac has allegedly been remanded in Winchelsea, after allegedly punching a man unconscious on Wednesday.

A good Samaritan attempted to stop the 40-year-old who was attempting to carjack a vehicle at a bus stop, before the offender turned on the brave bystander, knocking him unconscious.

Police are yet to speak to the driver of the car involved and have urged them and anyone else who witnessed the incident to contact police or CrimeStoppers.

Meanwhile, around $50,000 worth of leather items was stolen from 'The Vault Shop' on the main street, investigators say the burglary occurred sometime between October 15 and Tuesday afternoon.

Offenders likely spent a large amount of time in the shop, where they smashed glass cabinets and left with a raft of valuable items.

Shop owners are asking the local community to look out for any of the distinctive leather products stolen.
