In the latest accident involving the Colac Ballarat Road roundabout at the Princes Highway, a b-double rolled in heavy fog yesterday morning.

The truck had one trailer loaded with urea which was split across the scene.

The male driver in his late 30s was assisted from the truck by SES. He was then taken to the Geelong Hospital with a nasty gash on his head, but no life threatening injuries.

In an ironic twist, the truck knocked down one of the roundabout's light poles upon impact. The very same light poles that are yet to be connected due to the Major Road Projects dispute with contractors.

Roads around the roundabout were diverted for some hours before heavy haulage removed the truck.

Highway Patrol will continue to investigate the accident.

In another turn of events, Major Road Projects Victoria declined an interview request by Mixx FM/3CS yesterday, asking for comments around the communities concern about the lighting and speed situation at the roundabout in question.

They however provided a statement:

“Our construction partner is working hard to energise the permanent lights as soon as possible. The temporary lighting is safe but will be replaced with permanent lighting soon. MRPV will review this temporary arrangement noting the concerns raised.”
