A 29 year old Glenfyne man was arrested in the early hours of Sunday morning after threatening a Timboon publican with a knife.

Warrnambool Sergeant Angela Fitzgerald says the incident happened at the Timboon Railway View Hotel after the intoxicated man was asked to leave.

She says the offender then became abusive allegedly threatening another patron and the publican with the knife.

Some patrons managed to get the knife from the man.

When police arrived he resisted arrest but was eventually restrained and taken back to the Warrnambool police cells.

Warrnambool Sergeant Angela Fitzgerald says he was interviewed Sunday morning and charged with a number of offences including threats to kill, possessing a weapon in a licensed premises and resisting police.
