Mr Tehan said, “he was delighted to announce the funding of $8,750 that would assist the school in advancing their buildings and grounds”.

This project will allow the Colac Specialist School to convert and old playground areas to a quiet retreat and space for the students with the versatility to hold school and social events.

The students of the school envisage a space in a green setting with seating, tables and a barbeque, contributing to the welfare and life skills development.

“The Coalition Government recognises the important role that schools play in our community and that’s why we’re funding small projects that will make a big difference at our local schools,” Mr Tehan said.

School communities nominated the projects they most wanted and the Coalition Government stepped up with funding support through the Coalition Government’s $30.2 million Local Schools Community Fund.

The Local Schools Community funding is an additional investment on top of the Coalition Government’s record funding of $310 billion for schools.

“This school project will go a long way in helping our students and the local school community at Colac Specialist School when the redeveloped space is completed next year.”
