Great Ocean Road Businesses Ready For Busy Weekend

Smiles have started to return to the faces of some business owners along our Great Ocean Road, four days since the end of the Metro Regional Victorian Border.

Visitor numbers are up for the first part of this week, with more expect to descend on our coastal communities this weekend.

Sally Cannon from the Apollo Bay Bakery says it's been great to see car parks packed once again.

"To drive down the main street and see the car parks all chocker block is just amazing. I never thought I'd say it but it's fantastic to not be able to get a car park in my own town," Cannon said.

Business owners are expecting a 'Christmas like weekend' over the coming days.

"I think this weekend will be like Christmas. I'm not sure if there is a bed left in Apollo Bay. I know most of the accommodation places are booked out and it'll just be fantastic. Hopefully the weather will hold up and the weekend will be great."

"This weekend will be a great test for business owners and the shire to see how the crowds behave and just how packed it is, so hopefully we can plan for a busy summer period after this weekend."

This Friday, Saturday and Sunday will mark the first full weekend since Melburnians have been allowed to visit Regional Victoria.
