Vehicle Impounded After Sunday Morning Burnout

At 1.15am Sunday morning, Colac police observed a Holden Commodore wagon performing a burnout at the intersection of Hart and Wilson Streets.

The vehicle's speed was detected at 128 kilometres per hour in a permanent 40 km zone. The vehicle then performed a second burnout in front of police and travelled through Queen Street.

The vehicle then pulled over a short distance before blowing a rear left tyre. Five people fled on foot. After a short foot chase with police, the driver was then captured and arrested.

The vehicle was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1170. The driver is expected to face court at a later date.
