The Colac Imperials Open Women's side will feature in Division One this season

The Colac Imperials have been rewarded division one status for the open coming AFL Barwon Open Women's season.

The Epworth AFL Barwon Senior Female Division 1 and 2 season fixtures have been announced, with the competition set to grow even bigger in 2019.

The Division 1 Epworth Cup sees Torquay commence their inaugural AFL Barwon Senior Female season, and will create history with a standalone fixture on Saturday, April 6 against Geelong Amateur at McCartney Oval.

For the first time, a Female Football Pride Cup match between Colac Imperials and St Mary’s will take place in Round six ahead of the men’s game between Newtown & Chilwell and Leopold.

The Division 2 Epworth Cup for 2019 is an eight-team competition, kicking off a day later than Division one on Sunday, April 7. Both divisions will also see numerous night games and double headers throughout the season.

Division One Fixture Highlights Include:

  • Torquay beginning their Senior Female Football journey on Saturday, April 6 at home
  • Round Five teams will partake in Beyond Blue Round
  • An AFL Barwon Senior Female Representative Interleague side will face Northern Football League in the WorkSafe Community Championships on Saturday, May 17
  • An inaugural AFL Barwon Female Football Pride Cup will take place between Colac Imperials and St Mary’s at Elderslie Reserve in Round six, as a curtain raiser for the GFL Pride Cup between Newtown & Chilwell and Leopold
  • Ocean Grove and Barwon Heads will contest the Female ‘Battle of the Bridge’ in twilight following the men’s game
  • Round 11 & 12 will be Love the Game Round and Just Think Round respectively
  • The Division One finals series commences on July 28, with the Grand Final on Sunday, August 18

Division 2 Fixture Highlights Include:

  • The season begins with all teams starting their year on Sunday, April 7
  • Reigning Division 2 premier Barwon Heads start their year with a Grand Final rematch against St Mary’s
  • Round Five teams will partake in Beyond Blue Round
  • An AFL Barwon Senior Female Representative Interleague side will face Northern Football League in the WorkSafe Community Championships on Saturday, May 17
  • Round 11 & 12 will be Love the Game Round and Just Think Round respectively
  • The Division One finals series commences on July 28, with the Grand Final on Sunday, August 18
