At this stage all students will return to onsite learning throughout the week beginning October 12 while VCE and VCAL students will sit the GAT onsite the week prior

Education Minister James Merlino stated by October 16 all students will be back in the classroom.

"Regional Victoria in that first week will be the same, so students learning remotely, VCAL and VCE students coming into regional and rural schools for the GAT and for school-based assessments," Mr. Merlino announced.

"The week of the 12th (of October) to the 16th of October, prep to 12 will all return to schools," he stated.

Mr Merlino said schools will have the freedom in deciding on how they wish to bring their students back.

"It will be a local decision at the school level because primary schools might want the prep students coming in for a day or two and then want the other students coming in."

"With regional secondary schools they may want to firstly engage with the VCE, VCAL students and then get the rest of the cohort in."
