by Will Boddington

The lack of daycare centre's in Colac is still set to leave local parents short on options after the announcement that Wydinia Early Learning Centre will be losing its day care program.

Member for Polwarth Richard Riordan says he hopes with the help of the Colac Otway Shire another provider can soon pick up the slack.

"The Shire is doing all it again at this stage to attract a new daycare provider and the reality is Colac is horrendously short of daycare spaces," Mr. Riordan said.

"We've got some fantastic operators in town that many of us have used over the years, they're first class, but they're packed," he said.

"They've got huge waiting lists, they're under pressure as well because they know that families need these types of services."

"So it's urgent that we get another provider so shout out to the Shire, they are on to that, they're trying to get some extra providers."

"The Shire's also undertaking to train up to 15 daycare providers to get them up and licensed, registered, trained and accredited to provide that extra service."
