Police detected a Ford sedan allegedly speeding along Birregurra-Warncoort Road about 3.20pm. The driver attempted to evade police but was intercepted as he drove into his driveway.

Police discovered the 21-year-old driver was a disqualified probationary licence holder. He underwent a roadside drug test and returned a positive result for methylamphetamine.

The driver’s vehicle was impounded under the hoon legislation at a cost $1225. He is expected to be charged on summons with various traffic related offences.

About 8.15pm, police were then patrolling Lorne as part of School Leavers Week and observed three males getting into the back of an unregistered blue Holden sedan.

The vehicle was intercepted on The Great Ocean Road and the driver fled on foot while police spoke to the remaining passengers. One of the passengers, a 17-year-old boy, was consuming alcohol and was issued with a infringement notice.

The driver, an 18-year-old man from the Ballarat area, was located a short time later. He underwent a breath test and returned a result of 0.031. The man also underwent a drug test and returned a positive result for methamphetamine.

He is expected to be charged on summons with various traffic related offences.

Colac Highway Patrol will continue highly visible patrols in the area in an effort to reduce the amount of serious and fatal collisions on Victorian roads.
